Zia turned 1 on August 1 and has been celebrating all month. She has had two parties - one in Seattle and one in Portland. She is working on her words: she says "up," "more," "da" (which means dog), "ba" (which means ball, bath, balloon, and butterfly), "mama," "dada," "nigh nigh,""bibi" (meaning baby), "pip pip pip" (what the chick says), and more every day! She has also been working on standing and walking (she can walk holding onto one hand now). As you can see in the above video, she has been practicing her walking with her alligator toy that her Granny gave her for her birthday. What a big girl!

Two of Zia's honorary aunties Chelsea and Hannah came to celebrate at her Portland party. |

Zia getting ready for her angel food cake with strawberries. She liked the strawberries better than the cake. |

Warm croissant from St Honore, yum! |

At her Seattle party, Zia got a lot of presents from her Seattle friends, including this cute owl from Zane! |
|
Zia just loves owls! Who knew? |

Grandma Evelyn and Uncle Mike chose this cute little creature for her. |

Thanks, Clara, for helping Zia open her presents! |
|
Zia did not like her birthday cake; no frosting-face pictures for this girl! |
|
OK, all done with the cake! |
|
Thanks, friends, for coming to my birthday party! |
