Aloha

Zia recently spent some time on Kauai.  Here are some photos and videos from her trip:

See what I have to put up with??

Anyone for tennis?

Dad.  Water!
You want me to dig myself out??

OK...

OK just pick me up already!
Beautiful ocean, waves and surfers!
Zia is already quite the shopper.   Here is a video of her doing some shopping.

Looking toward the Na Pali coast...

On our early morning walks, we would see Alexandra the Albatross, sitting on her nest!!

William, Zia's new friend from the Farmers' Market
Gave Zia a dandelion...

Here is a video of Zia playing on the playground with her dada.

Look at the size of this grapefruit Dada picked out for us!

I can pick out some fruit too...

How about this one?

What's in here?

We got a little wet at the Limahuli garden, but it was fun!

Look at this big frog we found!

Hiking with mom and dad.

Playing in the forest

Here is a video of Zia using her walking stick to get down some steps.

Zia loved the fire torches

And hijacking the golf carts!

Zia loved looking at the Christmas trees, especially when she woke up at 5am...

She learned how to smush her face against the glass.
Blowing kisses

Zia Turns One!

Remember this little monkey when she was just a few hours old?  Look at her now!

Untitled from Anne Ruybalid on Vimeo.

Zia turned 1 on August 1 and has been celebrating all month.  She has had two parties - one in Seattle and one in Portland.  She is working on her words:  she says "up," "more," "da" (which means dog), "ba" (which means ball, bath, balloon, and butterfly), "mama," "dada," "nigh nigh,""bibi" (meaning baby), "pip pip pip" (what the chick says), and more every day!  She has also been working on standing and walking (she can walk holding onto one hand now).  As you can see in the above video, she has been practicing her walking with her alligator toy that her Granny gave her for her birthday. What a big girl!

Two of Zia's honorary aunties Chelsea and Hannah came to celebrate at her Portland party.

Zia getting ready for her angel food cake with strawberries.  She liked the strawberries better than the cake.

Going for a little walk with Mommy and Granny, waiting for St Honore to open for breakfast!

Walking down the stairs, one of our favorite activities!

Ready for a warm croissant from St Honore.  How much will end up on the floor?

Warm croissant from St Honore, yum!

At her Seattle party, Zia got a lot of presents from her Seattle friends, including this cute owl from Zane!

Zia just loves owls!  Who knew?

Grandma Evelyn and Uncle Mike chose this cute little creature for her.

Glasses!!

Daddy wearing the glasses is so funny!

Everyone took a turn wearing the glasses!

What fun!

Lots of fun toys

Thanks, Clara, for helping Zia open her presents!

Zia did not like her birthday cake; no frosting-face pictures for this girl!

OK, all done with the cake!

Thanks, friends, for coming to my birthday party!

New favorite game:  peekaboo out from behind the couch!
